Mena Restaurant
Restaurants and gastronomyOur beloved restaurant was opened in 1959 by Diego Mena Llorca and María Cuesta Llidó, together with their children Diego Mena Cuesta, the alma mater, María and Vicenta. Back then, it was a simple hut made of reeds. By 1960, part of the hut had been covered, while the rest remained built from canes — at different heights, depending on what the cliff allowed.
In our early years, we cooked our paellas outdoors… Just figure out how challenging it was to cook over firewood in the open air, especially with the winds that blow through there.
Diego Mena Cuesta and his wife, Josefa Larrosa Navarro, formed the third generation dedicated to serving you: Diego, María, Mónica and Natividad.
Our “boat”, as we like to call our restaurant, sits right on the cliff edge at the end of Les Rotes area in Dénia. Every day we “set sail” together with new guests and friends we enjoy making feel them at home… As the founder used to say, the best place to eat is undoubtedly your own home — and after that, at Mena Restaurant.
